REPRODUCTION AND MARINE INVERTEBRATE RESEARCH CENTER

This Center consists of three prefabricated containers, dedicated to the reproduction and farming of oyster and sea urchin. The plant, of 3,600 liters of salt water, includes a unit for zooplankton production, with numerous bioreactors. The oyster and sea urchin reproduction units include aquariums for broodstock management and tanks for housing fertilized eggs and juveniles, useful for marine areas restocking purposes. The tanks are also designed to conduct in vivo digestibility studies. The Center is managed in collaboration with the Department of Bioscience, Biotechnology and Environment of the University of Bari.
