PhD Course in Biodiversity, agriculture and environment

The PhD in Biodiversity, Agriculture and Environment (BAA) is focused on the application of interdisciplinary approaches consistent with the 17 goals of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. The PhD Course combines the sustainable development in its environmental and agricultural connotations with the protection of biodiversity in order to get advantages on the territory and to favour socio-economic innovation. The preservation and protection is declined from basic to applied research, from issues of knowledge and protection of ecosystem functions to those of sustainable soil and water management, and for all aspects which look for innovative solutions capable also to positively assist an ever-growing population. These issues are mainly reflected in ERC area LS9: Applied Life Sciences and Biotechnology. The Course includes 4 Curricula:

  1. Plant Genetics and Biotechnology
  2. Environmental sciences
  3. Sustainable Mediterranean agriculture
  4. Crop protection
